The CMCC Foundation is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we collect and/or ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using our applications and/or services, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. By using our application/service, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this policy.
The CMCC Foundation may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes made. This policy is effective from July 1st, 2018.
This page is intended to inform FireAware users about the management of the application with reference to the processing of their personal data, as required by art. 13 and 14 of the European Regulation no.679/2016 – General Data Protection Regulation.
The processing activities connected to the web services of this application take place at the premises of the CMCC Foundation, Via Augusto Imperatore, 16, 73100, LECCE (LE), Italy (Vat no. 03873750750), and they are only handled by the company personnel, or by the persons in charge of occasional maintenance operations.
All data collected through the application will not be in any case communicated or disseminated to other parties. Aggregate statistics and/or data derived from the analyses carried out by the CMCC Foundation may be shared with the public stakeholders involved in the Operational FIre Danger prevention plAtform 2 (OFIDIA2) project in the context of the Interreg V/A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Programme, Contract no. I1/2.2/02.
Categories of processed data, usage and retention
We collect the following information:
  • data required by the application (input data provided by you);
  • geo-location information (after and only if you consent to enable geo-location on your device);
  • Information useful to distinguish among different client applications while preserving anonymity (for usage statistics, i.e. total number of distinct client applications).
We use the collected information to:
  • perform data analysis to generate statistics and new knowledge for the general public and public stakeholders. We may disclose the data to trusted service providers whom we rely on for hosting, marketing and analytics solutions. In all such cases, we will ensure the service provider agrees to keep the data confidential.
The CMCC Foundation will retain the data collected:
  • through the application only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy;
  • to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies;
  • in aggregate and anonymous form for internal analysis purposes.
Navigation data
The information systems and software procedures relied upon to operate this application acquire personal data as part of their standard functioning; the transmission of such data is an inherent feature of Internet communication protocols.
Such information is not collected in order to relate it to identified data subjects.
This data category includes IP addresses and/or the domain names of the devices used by any user connecting to this application, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of such requests, the method used for submitting a given request to the server, the returned file size, a numerical code relating to server response status (successfully performed, error, etc.), and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and computer environment.
These data are only used to extract anonymous statistical information on the use of the application as well as to check its functioning. The data might be used to establish liability in case computer crimes are committed against the application and may be exhibited to the Judicial Authorities, if the latter make an explicit request.
Data provided voluntarily by users
Sending e-mail messages to the addresses mentioned on this site, which is done on the basis of a freely chosen, explicit, and voluntary option, entails the acquisition of the sender’s address, which is necessary in order to reply to any request, as well as of such additional personal data as is contained in the message; the same also applies to data collected through the data collection forms dedicated to online services.
Personal data are processed with automated tools for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected.
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. Specific security measures are observed to prevent data loss, illegal or incorrect use and unauthorized access.
In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Applicable law
The CMCC Foundation cooperates with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose any information about the collected data to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate in order to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas), to protect the property and rights of the CMCC Foundation or a third party, the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop any illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity, or to comply with the law.
This application and the current regulations and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Italian Laws. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the current regulations and conditions shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Lecce, Italy.
In the event of any discrepancy or different interpretation of the various versions of these regulations and conditions, the Italian version shall prevail.
Amendments
The operator reserves the right to change the information provided in or via this application, including the terms of the current regulations and conditions, at any time and without prior notice.
