PARTNERS’ ROLES
The CMCC Foundation is the Lead Partner of the project, responsible for the management of administrative procedures with respect to the Managing Authority. The LP participates through the Advanced Scientific Computing and the Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Natural Ecosystems (IAFES) Divisions. It primarily contributes expertise on data management and applications, weather models, fire danger and behavior modelling.
The University of Ioannina contributes expertise in weather forecasting and data storage management whereas DAEWM and the Civil Protection provide expertise in forest protection, firefighting and environmental monitoring in the Epirus and Apulia regions.
The associated partners also play a key role in the planned activities. In particular, the Regional Agency for Irrigation and Forest Activities (ARIF) will be involved in the design of the wireless sensors networks and sensors installation, by carrying out a prior inspection of the wooded areas and choosing the right location for the sensors.  On the other hand, the Municipality of Lecce will be involved in a) Educational gamification activities, such as school contests focusing on fire danger topics; b) Educational campaigns, namely events organized in close collaboration with selected schools in the eligible area, to address and foster the promotion of lifelong learning and vocational education; c) Awareness-raising campaigns with other stakeholder, to raise awareness of the fire danger risk and prevention among the general public.
